FAQ

Answer

The Nevada College & Career Ready (CCR) Framework is an initiative of the Nevada Department of Education, and part of the Future of Learning Network initiatives. It is intended to meet schools and students where their needs are, and encourage growth into a full system of support where all students can explore their dreams and are prepared to actualize a life that inspires and engages them. With a few focused, aligned efforts, your school or district can move toward a more equitable and seamless system where all students have access and opportunity to attend college and prepare for a career.

The website hosts two major resources:

  1. The College and Career Ready Educator Success Inventory invites educators to reflect on key CCR practices and yields tailored results and resources aligned to respondents' answers. Respondents can send a copy of their results and resources to their email and retake the survey at any time.
  2. The College and Career Ready Resource Library provides an opportunity to browse and share a collection of college and career-ready high impact practices that can be accessed on demand.

Who is the website designed for?

The website is specifically designed to support high school and district personnel to assess their strengths and needs, and access immediate resources to help students to be college and career ready. We have mapped specific resources tailored for school counselors, college and career coordinator/coaches, CTE coordinators, CTE teachers, non CTE teachers (ie. history, English, etc.), dual credit coordinators, school administrators, district administrators, superintendents, school support staff.

We anticipate expanding the scope of the framework to include educators in earlier grades, post secondary partners, families, students, and other community partners in 2024. If you have an interest in being a part of future efforts, please contact us through the site.

Answer

The Educator Success Inventory will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Exploring the results and resources can take more time.

We encourage educators to follow these five steps to optimize the impact of the inventory:

  1. Take the inventory individually, and encourage colleagues to do the same; reflect honestly and carefully on your current practices to maximize the impact and usefulness of the inventory
  2. Explore the resources that you received in your customized results (there is no log in so your results will not be saved - you should send yourself your overall results); bookmark or send yourself any specific resources from the results
  3. Share your results with colleagues; hold a meeting to share what you learned and discuss what next steps may be taken at your school or district to grow you college and career readiness
  4. Attend a regional meeting hosted by NDE in spring 2024 where you can review  combined regional and local results and build a CCR plan for your school or district
  5. We encourage that you and your colleagues complete the inventory on an annual basis to benchmark progress and strengthen your district/school’s CCR plan.

Answer

The college and career readiness framework was developed by Nevada Department of Education over the past year. The team convened an Advisory Board, of internals and external partners, over six months to gather thoughts and priorities. They also scanned the national landscape for best practices and surveyed all Nevada high schools to gauge their current college and career readiness practices. Since summer 2023, the team has interviewed and analyzed the needs of stakeholders and gathered feedback from educators through holding in- person workshops, online meetings and conducted asynchronous educator outreach.

Answer

When considering the approaches that support students to be college and career ready (CCR), practices generally cluster into the five categories shown. The practices included are not an exhaustive list of all the ways that support students to successfully transition into their lives after high school, but a collection of the evidence-based promising practices that are commonly used, across both college and career pathways.

All of the practices are drawn from the evidence, and provide opportunities for schools to reflect, self assess, and gain resources based on their needs. NDE will share a complete list of all references in an upcoming toolkit that will be released early 2024.

Answer

We encourage you to respond honestly to maximize the impact of the inventory. The information entered into the inventory will be used to better understand the college and career readiness needs of districts and communities across the state. NDE will not use your individual data, but will compile all the information into aggregated reports to reflect overall needs and strengths Statewide. These reports will not be connected to other statewide funding, decision-making or planning; rather act as a resource to augment and inform budget, correlation, partnership and planning efforts.
